Yeah, me too!
Having dificulty seeing any "rough" bits, I would personally put your build up at top marks!
One question.......where are your aft hull portholes?

Hi Gordon, Looks (pardon the pun) the bis!! Not much filling needed on your hull, really smooth.

Nice build Gordon well impressed. I would like to ask a question about your first pic if possible. It looks like the armour belt recess is a good 3-4mm in thickness (this could be the camera but I have seen others like this too). On my build there is only the 1mm of the 2nd lot of planking and to me it seems rather small, its as though it need bulking up or something? I am on issue 38 at the mo is there something still to come that will beef up this recess at all?

Thanks guys for the kind words - I feel much better now.
Eric, I have followed the instructions by the numbers up till now so I decided to try some of the mods suggested by the experts. The ply parts didnt fit to well anyway. I think there is a template issued latter so I will drill then.
Gordon.

Afkmatrix, when you put an angle on the top of the armour belt with a 45% angle (either sand down the wood as I did, or use filler) the belt becomes much wider. It effectively doubles.

I have measured the belt recess and its 2mm. There was a 1mm step in the rib plus the 1mm from the second layer of planking so I figure this is correct. You shouldnt put a second layer of planking above the recess. Maybe I have got it wrong though?

Well done Gordon, yet another fine hull on the slips, the more so since the instructions leave so much to guesswork, and yes, Achtung/Chill yours is looking very dandy too...you just need a bit more filler on those beak-marks! The belt armour should be a hair's breadth under 1mm; it looks more than this on the photos because its chamfered at 45-degrees as Eric correctly mentioned. I'm about a week away from doing my belt armour and will put some snaps up when ready. David

Nice one Gordon. Do not underestimate your skills, on the Daryl scale system you would rate late 80s early 90's! Perhaps we can get our bossman (Mark) to mark (excuse pun) up our models on the Daryl scale?

Perhaps we can get our bossman (Mark) to mark (excuse pun) up our models on the Daryl scale? The Daryl system ? Is that based on the amount of filler you can cram into a hull, the use of the most inappropriate glue you can think of, and how much excess glue you can smear over the hull, and how badly you can make good parts fit ? If so, Daryl is way off the scale, and all of you guys only pick up 2 or 3 points. Chill nearly got a few bonus points, but then he let slip that he wasn't using Nutella as a glue !!
