Well said Honda73. As somebody really really famous said, I climb mountains because they are there ! We build models for pretty much the same reason. Regardless of whether water cooling is necessary or not, we'll look forward to seeing you do it if you decide that's what you want to do.

My wife can't understand why I spent a small fortune on micro servos to make the guns elevate. Because I want to doesn't seem to wash.....

Are you going to start a build diary ? I'm sure we'd all follow it with interest :)

I quite agree !

(I have 6v motors and the current was measured in the bath with the boat held stationary in the water, which would have increased the flow pressure on the props and hence increased the driving current)

Only way mine will be water cooled if is it has met with some unfortunate accident

Well, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water........I am here again.
Thank you gentlemen for your kind words above.

This week end (Saturday 17th) the postman arrived with the next offering of the Bismarck, and I am now up to issue 145....not long now! But, as we all know it has a good large note on
the front of the package to 'handle with care', and what did the postie do....folded it in half and forced it through the letter box, the brass ware looks as if the dog chewed it, at times like this I wish I had a very large Dog.

Still to be fair he is not our usual postman who is very careful.

To all you guys who are waiting for a little more action from me for the layout and bits for the cooling, I have not forgotten, it is just time that avaids me at the moment, but a build dairy with pics etc may be a very good idea.

About 1 year ago I looked at using a 'squiggle' motor to run the gun movement thinking these would be great, small, super, but I forgot one thing...the cost was !!!

Still I must not keep you all from your bunks... 'There's What' off the starboard bow Cap'tn.

A'hoy there,
I hope it is really nice weather in port Elizabeth, a 'squiggle' motor is a piezo electric devise which is used in camera drives for moving the zoom lenses in and out and various other systems so it is really tiny, it pulls and pushes from a rotary motion on a fine screw thread, if you punch up 'squiggle motor' on the net you will find the page for this, it is a great device but the cost is so.............. and I really could have used these with such good results, they are made in the USA.

Could you perhaps use the drive from an old hard drive as it sounds very similar?

Unfortunately small always seems to equal fast, whereas guns should move slowly.

Small motors always turn fast as this is the only way to get a decent amount of power out of them. They are high speed - low torque, which means low current. High torque, low speed usually means high current, which means conductor (wire) size goes up, which means overall size goes up. (also means price goes up !)

Hello again ship mates,
As the weeks pass so quickly I have just managed to sit down in front of the computer and I am trying to catch up with everything and the Bisi' and you guys are one of them, there are some very nice examples of the near completed ship I see from many guys who must have very understanding wives and families.

Very soon I hope to be joining you in building mine almost from scratch as long as the posti does not fold anything else in half!! now where did I put the hull..........
