Robert your build is absolutely brilliant and inspiring It makes me want to rush out and buy the kit! For that you get a K I seem to recall seeing you had a website with all your mods on but cant seem to locate it again. Please could you give it to me as I have some friends who are very keen to get some of your drawings. Keep on posting !

Grant, thanks for your kind and encouraging comments and K. But I swear, I'm not promoting Italeri's model!! Actually, it should be all the way around since I didn't expect myself having to draw diagrams for every single part and turn the model into a total scratch build! I'm glad anyway that the time spent at spotting the major errors and correcting them, are bringing you the desire of making it too. It really should come a nice model once right. Nothing to compare with the poor original non detailed kit. Here's again the website address you're referring to: rpalmacci.free.frCheers.

Gentlemen, champagne is on me! I'm now over with that long, long nightmare. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think what remains of the ship to be built should be easy going. Unless further surprises pop in... Anyway, ladies and gents, let's savor the present moment.

Still at 1:35 scale, I only changed boat. This time, it was easier. I only had to transform a German assault raft into a standard Kriegsmarine dinghy.

Thanks mates. I'm afraid the question of having it painted will have to wait a bit, Mark. Hope not too much as I too would love to be done with it!
But I also have to consider all the requests of those who wish to build this model as the most accurate as possible by helping them to avoid the too many errors Italeri reproduced, in view of the numerous mails being received from the States to Australia. It wouldn't be fair, would it? I am moreover amazed myself indeed, seeing the thread has exceeded the 7000+ visitors in only 12 pages while nobody else do the Schnellboot on the forum! I still have to extend the upper bridge to fix the problem of the MG15s ammo racks next to the radio bulge, determine the place of one of the lockers on the aft deck and to bring a couple of modifications to the bow gun. And finally, to enjoy like you I guess, the first spring sunrays. Then I'll follow Italeri's assembly instructions... it'll all be easy going afterwards... I guess!
Cheers

This is definitely one of the forum's greatest threads.

Oops, I almost was forgetting the mines that will necessitate some improvements and the famous 'Raketenabschußgerät M42' to be built from scratch.

Robert, again Nice work and an excellent role modell for me. I have worked a little on the pneumatic shot of the torpedos and have attached the current status as is can be seen in youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Eshq8sI9ggThere is some work to do, the servo speed is not enough to push the button fast enough, thus some other mechnism needs to be here. further, this is just the set-up for one of the tubes -it needs some replications for the starboard tube. Further, the torp itself need some electronic, 2 micromotors for the contrarotating screws and a smal lipo accu. so some work ahead for me. enjoy the movie - see you soon here. Christian

Fabulous Christian, I'm very impressed indeed! May I be the first to attribute you a well-deserved 'K'! So, I understand you're gonna motorize the torps, right? Will they activate once they hit water as some Dutch looneys (I'm joking ;D) did? That's far, but far beyond my capabilities. The only thing I know is that there are plus and minus wires in electricity! Top marks, again. Tell me, I'll be in Berlin very shortly. Think we could meet for some nice German beer? You can send me a PM if you want. Tschüss und Bis bald.

Robert,
Thanks for the feedback. Yes the torpedo should run electronically. For this it will take two micromotors (3 mm in diameter) for the contra rotating propellers. The torpedo will require some electronic timer element which is activated by magnet force. The idea is that with the opening of the hatch, the magnet comes close to the tube. When firing the timer passes through the magnetic field and is being activated. From that moment the two engines will run for a certain period of time 3 - 4 seconds (depends on the speed the torpedo will generate). After that the engines stop and the torpedo will float on the water surface to be collected by the tender ship which is steered by my son (8 years).
The downside is I have to cut the torpedo for apprx. 10 mm, otherwise it will not fit in the tube - however for the benefit of shooting the torpedo I am willing to take this pil.
That is the plan and it will take some time to plan, draw and manufacture the few parts I need.
Lets see how this works out. BTW. We have already generated the FogGenerators for the S100
kind regards
Christian
