Well I am still waiting to hear back from Del Prado about any issues they might still have for the Build The Bounty part work they done a few years ago, I picked up a "complete" set a few weeks back for £20 only to find six issues missing 51, 55, 77, 90, 92 & 95 hopefully they will not be structural parts. The kit includes a removeable section of the hull to reveal the internal structure. Yeterday I dicided to say stuff waiting and made a start on the build. The first eliments of the hull have gone together. as well as the first hull parts you also got the first cannon. Got to trim the axle down a touch still. Looking at the parts I have its going to be quite a nice build, as I have the vast majority of the parts already I hope to have it completed this year.

Hey southendnick
where abouts are you on the bounty? I have done a bit of a mess up on the ribbing, in the instructions it says to use a honey colour varnish but really a stain. i will just have to work around it. have you had any troubles with the instructions if you have done any more on it?

The build continues the last few issues have been construction of thw Scallop. A very fiddly build, but well worth it. Socket for the mast, and floor beams. The mast, sails and oars on deck. The oars yes I really did bind them! bloddy fidley even more so when the cat wants to play with the cotton thread. Being the crazy zany barmy person that I am I had this thought what would it look like with its sail "rigged" so having some dowl rod laiying about doing nothing, a box of tooth picks and a spare off cut from the Cutty Sark sails... Hand stitched sail...Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You're in for some fun! The supplied planking for the hull is brittle but I found if I soaked the planks in water with a little ammonia for at least 24hrs before using them, they go on fine (mine permanently lived in a bucket of water until the planking was done. Rubbing the planks over a hot soldering iron barrel makes them bend nicely too, just try not to burn your fingers! ;D To make the sails look like they're billowed out before the breeze, use your fingers to pose the sail once its ion place on the spar (imagine your fingers being the wind) , give the sail a squirt of hair spray, keep your fingers in place for a minute, & Voila, nice billowy sails . This is my one, not quite finished, still have a few miles of rigging to go and a some more sails to make up. That'll learn me for deciding to hand stitch the sails instead of using glue and a marker pen as suggested by Del Prado. Starboard midships & a busy crew member: rear cabin, sorry its a bit blurry, ( model railway foliage makes great mini breadfruit trees): Port view of midships and another busy sailor: Lookout: Bow: Scallop: Ships wheel:
