Phew! It didn't get lost at least at the Bayreuth Festival in Bavaria, listening to some Richard Wagner's concerts... Most certainly that funnel would have taken itself for a tuba there, and Chill granted to blow a raspberry! ;D

If you make a mess of the funnel, you could say it's gone up in smoke.
If it's OK, smoke goes up in it.

Wow Would a container of some sort inside the funnel work, instead of using the funnel as a container.

Wow Would a container of some sort inside the funnel work, instead of using the funnel as a container. of course, but for what reason? the funnel itself is a perfect container markus

done painted the funnel top before mounting, so the smoke generators aren't covered by paint afterwards chill, we want to see a video once you received it charge your batteries well - current drain is 1,6 amps at 6volts ;D

Won't the smoke build up soot in the funnel eventually?

the smoke doesn't soot at all
you just have to be careful when filling, the fluid is a bit oily...

Maybe that's the reason for skyfire's question?
You know as you get older, steadiness is a luxury. ;D
