My newsagent has just given me 2 parts 48 so I have one spare if anyone wants it. Plus I have just found a spare issue 2. £1.50 each plus P&P

I'll take the 48 if you still have it.

Well I have just got off the phone from Jacklins - on behalf of Hachetts. A difficult and unpleasant experience. he kept on asking me what back issues I wanted. I kept on asking him what was the current issue so that I could know which back issues to order. He absolutely would not tell me. Eventually I ordered 40, 41 on back issue and 43 onwards on subscription - even though I explained to him that in UK people are getting issue 66 already and so I really wanted about 25 back issues. Anyway, he insisted that it be done his way, so who am I to argue. I could tell that he was getting very prickly about it on the phone.
At least I have a back issue order number and a subscription reference number so I am now officially a customer. Apparently everything will arrive within 21 days. I can't understand why it should take that long and frankly I smell trouble but we'll see. In the meantime I will keep on trying to pick up back issues where I can as a hedge.

You are right to smell trouble. Many on this forum had no end of grief, including myself, but if its any consolation all came good in the end and I now get my issues on time. Albeit you are always several issues behind those who pick theirs up at the newsagent.

What I like about subscribing directly with Hachette is that it is they who are responsible for the model and for making sure that it is correct and as advertised. Having a contract directly with them makes it possible to act against them if necessary. Much simpler than having to deal with a newsagent - who has no say in it and is just the middleman. My advice to all in respect of these kinds of models, is always to subscribe directly with the publisher. I have a law background. If anyone does have these kinds of problems, maybe I can give some informal advice from time to time.
I also run a self-help website:- The Consumer Action Group. I can put the link up if it is permitted. We have attracted 172,000 forum members in two years. We don't charge any money. We wrote the original materials for Martin Lewis' bank charges campaign after he got the idea from us.

Hi brianc,
Not sure if it will help but I have the cut out boards from pretty much all the issues. As I am doing for someone else I can post these to you (not sure where you are though?) then you can buy some wood that's the right thickness and cut them out urself.
PM me if you want me to send you the cut outs.
