Need a bit of help. Just got on issue 37 and part number 194and where you have to draw the lines on it - in order to score and bend it to fit the hull. Does anyone know the measurements where to draw the lines.
Or is it an estimation for the lines?

Or is it an estimation for the lines? haven't built in these parts from hachette, but i don't think the position of these cuts is that important. more 'notches' make that part fit better... markus

I agree with Markus, it is not all that important. I made mine approx as per the pictures and it worked OK The important thing is that it MUST bend round the curvature of the hull, and to do this I found the easiest way was to use sellotape (plenty of it) to force it into shape while the glue dried. Note that clamps or pins are not a good idea. p.s make sure the cutouts are not filled with glue so as to obscure them!! After glue dried, I found it necessary to sand off the edges to smoothly blend into the second planking.

I used about 30 or so elastic bands to hold mine in place (deck in place to avoid damaging top planks), I had the added problem of having mine snapped at it's narrowest point, not by me, it arrived like that. But it still worked out ok.
Hoping issue 38 isn't damaged on arrival!

another question on this point, the measurement of 420mm, can that be taken alongthe hull or from a perpendicular point out from the bow at right angles down 420mm? I feel the need for some steam! Ethel! put the kettle on honey.

On the last question, it wasn't specific in the instructions so I measured it with a tape measure, following the contour of the hull along the side rather than "as the crow flies" at it were.

I just used a ruler held against the side of the hull. I don't think the difference would be visible to the eye, and if anybody starts measuring my Bismarck and starts to tell me the bilge keel is 1/4" out, they will get a smack !!
