Eric, you did it again, lol. If what you are saying is that the ice is doing exactly the same thing the conveyor belt was, i.e. matching the "speed" of the aircraft precisely but in the oposite direction, then nope, the aircraft will not take off, lol.
nm, great video. That's what ya call flying by the seats of yer pants. Either that pilot had sphericals the size of water melons or he had a very unhealthy amount of confidence.

Let us take another look at what Eric says, suppose that the aircraft is tied down so that it cannot move forwards, because we have a problem getting a suitable moving belt.yes? Is this not the same as the belt matching the wheel speed? Then as the props produce power (or jets if you like) the air starts to flow over the wings, sucked across the wings whether we like it or not, it happens! When this wind reaches a sufficient velocity, the plane will lift. If I can remember from my youth at the beginning of the last century, it was common practice for my friends to hang onto the tail plane until the engine had made enough power, and when let go the plane took off in a very short distance!!! (our runways then were grass and not very long!! Now with the moving conveyor belt, to stop lift off you also need the wind produced by the power to be matched by another wind blowing the other way at the same speed. So there it is!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Skyfire assumes the aircraft is airbourne, but since it departed without clearence, shoots it down with a sidewinder missile. Can't have unidentified aircraft departing without clearence and taking photos of the Bismarck, then sending the pics to the allies. - rofl
