@ Chris Part 62: You mean iss20? Both parts no. 62 kann be attached. But be aware!! The deck is too thick. Some people removed the Amati deck and attached a new one (1mm thickness). You have to decide now. Part 66: (iss 21) attaching this part will result in this problem: buildthebismark.proboards52.com/index.cgi?board=mods&action=display&thread=1182265787&page=7read the thread from caligula. ("...We have to glue a 4mm wooden part between upper deck [part 66] and resinpart. Wow, the resinparts comes 4mm deeper and now its equivalent to planking. Unfortunately the anchor pocket ist now 6mm to deep...")

Hi Dirk, I think that you mean part 63 in issue 20, not part 62 which in my case is slightly thinner than the planks. As the resin part has been the subject of much criticsm by our German friends, who have been chasing up Hachette about it for some time, perhaps we might be lucky and get a corrected version, so I would suggest leaving parts 63 and the spacer due in part 21 until we get the resin part and then decide what to do next. I might even make a wooden version of the resin part and carve in the anchor housing myself if necessary.

Don is absolutly right! Wait until you have the resin part in your hands. Then decide...

Well I obtained mine from Homebase, its in a syringe like dispenser with two tubes. One tube contains the resin and the other the hardener. Squeeze a small amount of each onto a piece of old card, stir it up and use quickly before it sets.

Personally I prefer the traditional Araldite which takes 24 hours to set. I believe it's called Araldite Precision now. I find that it give a much stronger bond than the quick setting stuff. It sets rock hard, whereas the quick set epoxies seem to stay slightly flexible and doesn't adhere as well. The down side is that parts need clamping in position overnight.
Just my personal preference.

Hi CHris,
I wouldn't recommend superglue for gluing the resin parts in place. I would use epoxy. The mixing ratio isn't critical. I just squeeze what looks like the same amount out of each tube. As long as it's more or less right it will be OK. If you prefer you could get the stuff that comes in the double syringe packs. Then just give it a good mix with a scrap of wood, left over bit of plank or similar until well mixed. Again, if it looks well mixed then it is. Epoxy is actually pretty forgiving stuff.
It's important to make sure the resin is washed to remove any residues left over from the mould. Scrubbing with a nail brush works well.
