Hello. Can someone confirm that the parts 194 & 196 in issues 37 & 38 that the larger square cutouts in the end go towards the stern? I hope I haven`t put them around the wrong way Also if anyone is interested, I`ve been using very small hobby pins to nail various bits down till the glue dries. I think they use them for very small gauge hobby rail lines and when I remove them then do some sanding the tiny holes get filled with sanding dust so I don`t notice the holes anymore

After looking at the magazine it would appear that the larger holes go towards the stern. Interesting idea about the model railway pins, problem is I need all mine for my model railway.

I'm a bit behind here but my parts 37/38 arrived broken and very stiff (and didn't even smell of alcohol !) I pondered for 5 days if I was going to fit them or not! What a terrible design! Despite soaking, scoring, a thousand elastic bands and clamping the pieces still didn't sit flat! The bit that broke off will be glue on individually.

Probably the worst point of the second layer that, i hated it too.
I don't think I scored deeply enough into the wood with mine, also I think I should have forced the ply parts into the curve off the hull first, but I was worried about splitting them.
You'll be fine Martin, it all sands down smooth later anyway!

I scored mine about 2/3'rds the way through with a razor saw, and then 'cracked' them at each score. That taught the blighters a lesson

I did the same - deeply scored horizontally with several lines - and then fixed in place with elastic bands and then sanded down smooth when the glue had set. You can see this (see 3 Jan 08 set of photos) at www.flickr.com/photos/commander-popeye/You can also see the hull after fibreglassing, painting and yacht varnishing - it then went into the bath to check that all was watertight and the props worked - all went ok - phew !!
