Received issue 63 today, if you thought that the catapults were tricky, wait until you see the brass bits in issue 63!!!!! Definitely a need for good quality tweezers and a steady eye. Lots of tiddly bits as uprights to somehow superglue on. Having seen the preview, it did not look too bad, but in reality the pieces are a lot smaller than I expected. Oh well, better give it a go............

You seen 64 yet, think that looks just as bad from the preview.

Looking at it, I don't think it's all that big.

! would except that then the tweezers would become unmanageable!!! Thinks; pehaps the guy who sculptures on a pin head might be able to help, should be just up his street!!!!

Talking of fiddly I am doing issue 56 at the moment and can they make those nails any smaller!!! FFS I have lost 2 of the damn things and trying to hammer them in is a nightmare, I can tell you many a nasty word was being said while trying to do the first 2 nails!!

Have you got a small pair of needle pliers to push the nail in to give a bit of grip before you start hammering them in.

Phew!!! Today have just finished issue 63. After quite a few hours of frustration in fixing parts 447. I eventually cracked it!!! My mistake was the use of tweezers, they are just not suitable for the job, so after much head scratching, I finally used long nosed pliers. My final technique, which worked well: Leave part 440 in its frame for better control. Cut out one part 447 in the correct sequence as shown. Use the long nosed pliers and force the lug at the bottom into the relevant slot in part 440, then, using the pliers, push the top slot in part 447 into the rail, it should click into place (my earlier mistake was in not realising how precision made the brasswork is). If neither ends fit correctly, then you may have excess superglue from other gluing down in the way, all MUST be clean as the slots are very very accurate! It took me two days to fit the first 8 parts 447, and about an hour to do the rest, which were in more difficult to get to places! When fitting the outside pieces, again make sure that no excess glue is in the way, or else they will not fit flat. I ran a small file over them to make sure all was well. I am now hoping that I have got over the worst and that they are no more really fiddly bits to come, its been a nightmare!!!

Have you got a small pair of needle pliers to push the nail in to give a bit of grip before you start hammering them in. I'm with Chill on this one (almost). I always push the small pins/nails in with a pair of pliers. I have never used a hammer - seems too agressive/too easy to damage the model. Grip the nail head and push them in 3//4 the way. Then use the end of the jaws to push them fully home.
