Hi Baz,
I believe that part is like the bearing for the turret to sit on at a later stage. Haven't seen no reference to it yet in the previews from Germany, so it's use is a ways off yet. Don't lose it.

I always thought it was for the bottom of the mast. Have checked but cannot find any details yet.
