I keep meaning to get back to the President, Eric I have never seen what Sergel/Mantua produce ? Good kit ? I would expect the timber would be top class. Are the instructions of any use ? Do the parts seem reasonably to scale ? I ask this because I came close to ordering the kit some years back Baz Hi Baz, have a look in 'Other Models' page 3, and look for Hms President, that is the build diary I have for my Sergal kit. It is very good, but the instructions are a bit vague in places, there is a translated english step by step guide and a large plan (same scale as the model) to show details of the build. The timber is good quality, but the laser cut parts are nowhere near as well done as Bismarck. I am enjoying it very much, but as I said, have'nt worked on it for some time. I'll get back to it soon. Eric.

Oh yes, thank you Eric, I've been across and had a look. Quite an impressive compact model. And you've done a masterly job
Not so fussed on the brittania metal parts on the stern though.
I've taken plans of a dutch fluyt from a book. Have sat hidden away for years. Might just attempt to scratch build that once Bissie is completed

Thanks guys - I was beginning to feel left out..... feeling all warm and rosey now (Mind, that might be the single malt ) The large ply sheets are a git to get in place. Individual planks may take a bit longer, but is far easier.....

More progress. I've added the gunn'al supports and there is a bit of bracing round the bow. The next job will be to fit the gunn'als. I've also made a start on the cabin. Note that it's taped down to the deck. This is to keep it square. The ply was a bit warped, so was flattened in the usual manner (wet, then allowed to dry under a flat weight). I had hoped that once glued it would be sufficiently rigid to hold square. Wrong !! It's re-warped itself and the cabin has twisted. Plan B is to hope that the deckheads will hold it square. Plan C is to fit some diagonal bracing which should sort it out for good. The only downside is that it will take up space that I had earmarked for receiver, smoke generator, sound card, etc.
