I used Tamiya Color spray paint, Gordon. I read somewhere that the waterline is Grey and not black and used the darkest gray I could lay my hands on. I must say these paints are not cheap, and you don't come very far with a tin.

I have been using Plasti-kote spray cans, enamel version. Seems to last quite a long time. For the bulk I used the 400ml cans,(about £7) and the 100ml (about £3) cans for the brass work. All will be overcoated with a clear acylic spray to protect against the handling and UV when going afloat. For primers, I use a car shop metal primer, a 400ml can goes a long way for a few quid! (for my waterline band, I used a dark grey spray paint from my car shop. However, to look at it is is almost black!) p.s. you can also get these paints in jars which is handy for touching up damaged paintwork and the bits of plastic in issue 83.

Superb paintwork Wolfie......... If I didn't have access to a spray painters workshop, (and expertise), I'd be using the Tamiya cans too Baz

Gordon, The paint numbers I used are: TS33 (Dull Red) - Below the waterline TS32 (Haze Grey) - Above the waterline TS48 (Gunship Grey) - Waterline TS67 (IJN Gray) - Bow and Stern above the waterline TS27 (Matt White)
The plan is to use: TS81 (Royal Light Grey) for the Superstructure.

I have completed issue 66 over the weekend (only one side) I am not sure whether it is correct and it still need some cleaning. I know it is a bit skew, so please don't rub it in. Wolfie

I am a bit confused. Looking at issue 79, the "deck" is not hanging over as in my build. Refer to the photos. Which one is correct? Wolfie

Your build is correct Go to the front assembly instruction page (158) of your issue 79 and read the note in the box in the bottom right hand corner It states 'Please note that the photography for steps 10 to 13 is incorrect and the deck piece should not be shortened as shown' I know it seems silly to say, but read through the assembly instructions carefully from front to back. Corrections come in the most unusual of places. Baz

I agonised over the same thing Wolfie. But when I put the superstruture together for a test fit, I noticed the catapults fitted nicely into gap so its just a photo malfunction.
cheers
