Thanks Markus, I was aware of that. The one already finished started off rough cut at about 2mm thick and has been sanded down to get the correct surface and is now just under 1mm thick. My calculations were based on the assumption that the parts you already have, supplied by Hachette, were printed on 1mm thick ply?? Incidentally, any signs of the outside two prop supports for the hull? Getting a bit worried that they will sustain damage if not properly supported.

someone mention portholes. What size are the portholes on this ship? I noticed some sites sell brass glazed portholes looked very good. Are we getting brass glazed portholes with this model?
Matt
PS I have made up my mind I will be planking my deck.

David Have you had any response to your letter yet? Thanks in advance Hi Guest, Just returned from my trip expecting an avalanche of 8 issues from Hachette, a reply to my e-mails and a reply to my (registered) letter. Nothing! I'll post their response as soon as they condescend to reply; one hopes that the delay indicates their intention to comply with their own promotions. I was pleased to hear though that Hachette have finally taken up my suggestion of some months ago to hire Marcus as a consultant. Markus, please note that my referral fee for this service is 25% ;D David

Something tells me the offer re consultancy does not exist as i dount very much that any offer would come via the Jacklin customer services team, maybe Markus can confirm this as I'am sure we are all curious for it to be confirmed one way or the other

David
Did you send your letter to the London address?
100-106 Leonard St London EC2A 4RH
If it was sent via Recorded then you should be able to track its delivery via the Royal Mail web site.

David Did you send your letter to the London address? 100-106 Leonard St London EC2A 4RH If it was sent via Recorded then you should be able to track its delivery via the Royal Mail web site. Just checked as you suggested. it was delivered to Jacklin's London office on 9th November. I was unaware of the Leonard St address and sent it instead to the one at 18 Bentinck St. So thanks for that, I'll send a copy to Leonard St. tomorrow. David

REPLY FROM HACHETTE RE LASER-CUT PLANKING
"Dear Mr P,
We would like to thank you for your interest in our publication Build the Bismarck. Regarding your query, we initially considered giving laser-cut decking planks with issue 60. However such a technique would produce a thin and slightly brittle decking making the building process particularly complex for most of our customers. We therefore made the decision to give printed decking sheets to ensure both an easy building process and a high-quality finish. If you still feel that laser-cut decking planks are the best option, we can supply you with some.
We hope that we have answered your query and that you will continue to enjoy building your model.
Yours Sincerely
The Publisher"
Chaps, I'd very much like to see what these laser-cut planks look like. They would surely be an improvement upon the printed decks, but would they compare favourably with the 'real thing'? Responses please gentlemen. David

I would certainly be interested in what their planks look like, and how they propose fitting them. What address was given on your message?
