I built the partwork Victory some years ago, modifying it and improving the accuracy by buying the HMS Victory book. I then moved onto the Grenado, (Jotika version) which was a piece of cake, although again I bought the book and modified it slightly, also adding sails and crew (see my section of my other models for both). The Grenado was the first time that I had used superglue in anger (it was needed) but was not impressed, do NOT like superglue thus my slowing down on the bismearck!

Think I might attempt to build her, not sure just how well I'll go, but it will be quite something if I manage to build her ok. That is if it comes down under, which I hope it will.

so reading your comments it was a waste of time putting this vic on here!!! if they keep it going will it be a waste of time building it as well??? Hi Chris Almost no model is a waste of time. The advert seems to display a reasonably detailed model, not to be sneezed at. Some models are deliberately incorrect in scale and detail for ease of construction and as an encouragement for beginners. Others are inaccurate because of lack of detail at the time. There are a multitude of reasons for models differing from manufacturer to manufacturer. Most kit models have some inaccuracies. Gratings are almost always not to scale Many models built from 'original builder's plans' are inaccurate because the builders almost without fail changed and modified as they went. I won't try to give examples because there are too many. There has been talk of the Granado. Off the top of my head, as I have not built or have any book references; I think she is a 'Bomb Ketch' She was originally built as a 3 masted fully rigged ship and modified to a ketch rig, enabling a mortar to be installed. Signicant hull and deck strengthening was required. I'm sure this ship is the subject of one of the 'Anatomy of a Ship' series Correct me if I'm wrong Swanrail. As for the Victory Its all a matter of taste and the depth of your pocket because there are a massive variety of this model available. In most cases you get what you pay for. I also challenge any person to come up with a definitively accurate drawing or plan of her. Rigging and minor structural changes would have been a regular necessity. Baz

Hi All, I telephoned Deagostini today and was told that the Victory would be approximately 100 parts but the girl I spoke to sounded somewhat unsure.
Still, it does look a nice kit and I am very tempted, especially now I'm an OAP lol

I suspect that this is a test release as there hasn't been a national advertising campaign.
