Well, new words do have their place. Hovercraft, for example was only put into the dictionary in the 50's (?) after Sir Christopher Cockerell invented it. Internet is a very new word of course. However, words and phrases such as Newbie, thinking outside the box, taking a helicopter view, and other such buzz phrases and only used by people who either think it's clever to make up stupid phrases, or (more likely) who's vocabulary is so limited that they don't know the real words for what they are trying to say. (like, Newcomer, radical thinking, taking an overview of the situation). The worrying thing is that these semi-illiterate business men are running the countries business and banks ! 'blog' I believe is a contraction of Web Log. I believe the traditional word is Diary ? OK, who's next for the soap box ?

Ok, as we're gone for hijacking my thread, I propose to be next!
Any explanation for "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," Mark?
When trying to express oneself, it's frankly quite absurd, To leaf through lengthy lexicons to find the perfect word. A little spontaniaty keeps conversation keen, You need to find a way to say, precisely what you mean...
The song says that if you summon up the word then you've got a lot to say... I tried to use the word lately but got as a reply something like "bull s...t" Not a friend of Mary Poppins, obviously!
;D ;D ;D

It seems like ages since we've had a good hijacking.
You can't fault Mary Poppins for flair when it comes to inventing words ! Mind, Black Adder come up with a few good ones in the episode 'Ink and Incapability' about Dr Johnson's Dictionary.
