I have contemplated buying the barrels from www.jbmodel.eu but notice that they are not a full set like the GPM ones, they are only the 3 largest barrel sets. Also, how are you guys going to fit the blast bags? Are you going to cut them off the Hachette supplied barrels and drill them out to fit over the turned barrels?

That's not gonna work for me as I'm (trying to) elevate the guns with a small servo. I may end up leaving them off completely.

Mark have you thought about trying to use some kind of material for the bags, you have the plastic ones and a wealth of pics to work from.

looked at a few models and some used milliput others tissue paper with white glue and some made them from play do covered in ca glue ;D don`t no if this helps with the blast bags but the fit of the ones supplied with the model i`ve found to be very tight in the holes! .i`m thinking of getting the gpm gun barrels then making my own out off ??

I bought some fine grey silk material from the local haberdashers which I may cut out and glue round the gun ports as blast bags, but only if it still allows me to elevate the guns as they rotate.

You just have to make a pattern and cut height pieces of thin fabric, without forgetting the hole in the center. Then melt bits of plastic inside with acetone or trichlorethane (by the way, I got a bottle at last! I discovered EU banned this latter... to the public but not to professionals). I gave an explanation in the "Hints & Tips" thread last year: buildthebismark.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&thread=1410Not good for the health but if you don't get addicted to it, it saved my life in many touchy situations!

Could I suggest a similar idea to Robert's but paint the material with watered down pva glue so as to stiffen the bag up a bit and retain that blast bag shape, but still remain malleable enough to allow your turrets to move?

Hi Guys,
I am doing my first heavy turret here and am at the point where I have to glue in the part with the holes for the barrels. Now I am going to be ordering some turned barrels from the suggested company but I was wondering, are the holes in the wooden part big enough for them?
Could someone who already have the barrels tell me do i need to make the holes in the wood bigger or are they ok as they are?
