Hi all, my name is mike ,but some of my mates call me mickyrubble, which seem to have stuck. I heard about this site from the model mayhem gang,am also in the paddle ducks site.I have been following the information trail for over a year now and thought its about time to chuck in my 2pence worth. The Bismarck i am building is to be radio control and have a 3 shafts working. I am 52 years old and started building boats when i was 12 (1st model was Vic smeeds bustler tug which i still have)For the last 15 years i was building period sailing ships mainly for commissions.Last few years my eyes arnt what they used to be(must be rigging all those deadeyes and double sheave blocks)and now i concentrate on scale sail and warships subs (graupner shark, robbe u47). I sail with a group of fellow idiots at a number of lakes in Tyrone we don't have a formal club or meet at set dates. If any one would like come to one of our sessions you will be most welcome.

Welcome aboard Mickyrubble. Always nice to have another long time modeller in the ranks. Especially one who doesn't seem to have any hang-ups (anybody who refers to fellow idiots can't be all bad, and should fit in here just fine !)

I've been looking at the Smit Rotterdam, only I can't justify the $500.00 or so Australian Dollars to buy it, specially when I'm trying to save for a holiday overseas. Nice sounding models you have there. Is the Liz Terkol the Deans Marine 1.

[/quote] Hi Starfire, yes its the Deans kit, plenty of detail, and handy size for transporting.I got it from a guy who was selling up his collection and with some restoration is now fully operational again.Never had a model with bow thruster before, its surprising how maneuverable it is. Is that the Billings kit (Smit Rotterdam),if so i would highly recommend them (having built Bounty,Bluenose )alas i prefer older types of tugs (Glasgow,TID).
