Hi Guys, Before Sticking the deck beams to the Frames I measured everything and they all fitted ok, but after I have sticked the Beams the whole deck structure bent upwards, is there a way of correcting this?, I have read in the Markus diary that he used steam, How do I do this,
Thank You.

Juan hi juan.. it's quite simple: 1. fix your hull on a jig 2. moisten the entire removable deck with steam from a kettle or an electric iron 3. put the deck in place and fasten it for 24 hours this should solve your problems (be sure to apply the steam to one side only - it depends on how the deck is bent so just post a pic like eric suggested) markus

Thank You markus, the deck is bent upwards, I'll post the pictures later, so I have to apply the steam to te top side of the Beams? wouldn't the steam affect the rest of the hull, should I place a weight on top of the deck to force it ro the right position?

if the deck is bent upwards in the middle you have to apply steam from the lower side...
if the hull is fixed to a jig there's no affection to the hull, also placing weights while drying is important...

Hi Markus, I Used the steam of my Iron and Literally "ironed" the deck, after finished I put some wieghts for 24 hour and the problem was corrected, The aft deck is a little more Rebel and doesn't want to get flat, i tried ironing it but still remains a little bended upwards, I have a 1mm gap in some frames.

you could use magnets to keep the deck in place...

Ref Markus comment, but is was I who originated the magnet method!!! The deck has been in place some 2.5 years now, with no problems. However, having built the superstructure, I have now decided that to lift the deck cannot be done as per my tentative idea of using the superstructure, it is far too delicate. I have now solved the problem by making the barbettes Anton and Dora removable, they sit on the deck with a hole for the main section and an extra layer of thin veneer around the barbette above the deck, This lets the barbette sit firmly on the deck in its correct place without slipping through. To lift the complete deck (mine runs from the front breakwater to the front edge of the stern grey band in one continuous piece), just lift out Anton or (preferably) Dora (or both), just enough to get ones fingers into the deck hole and break the magnetic hold, which is quite strong using my recommended magnets. The deck can then be moved away after firstly disconnecting the gun servos. Will try and post some pictures shortly.
