Latest update on the "real" Tiger tank at Bovington Tank Museum: (taken from our local free paper)
The museum has now raised over £70,000 to restore the tank captured during the war to make it fit for purpose and running. When it was captured, it was complete and in good running order, but shortly after, many parts were stripped off of it to enable the UK/USA to discover its secrets. It has been running at Bovington, although beit not in full original condition, but time was against it hence the need to raise the money to bring back to good running order. The Tiger 131 was captured in "mysterious circumstances after having been abandoned during a battle in Tunisia in 1943. It was later inspected by Prime Minister Winston Churchill and King George V1

I hope they get it fully oporational again, that would be excellent. I wonder if the 88mm would be restored to firing condition too...... ? I have the Tamiya 1/35 scale model of this very tank (131) boxed in the top of my cupboard, I will build it one day! I belive 131 was abandoned by its crew after breaking down. Tiger crews were under direct orders from Hitler to destroy their Tigers rather that allow them to be captured intact. I guess they didn't get time to blow her up. (Our gain, a fully working Tiger in the 21st century)

But would you want to push the button to fire a 1943 88mm shell ? While sitting beside it ? Seriously, it's fabulous to have the only one in working order, and it would be even better to see her fully restored.
