I guess you could put an angle on the second layer planks before gluing them in place, that would be qite easy to do and would give the angled edge needed to simulate the armour top.
That is one of the nice thing about working with wood over plastic, you can sand and trim with ease. Any other small discrepancies, like portholes, can be corrected just the same way.

Markus, how about it? Are you going to taper your armour? I need to know. tapering the armour ?? NEVER !! take a look into the hull thread, posted my way of planking in there... markus

elo all, Only another issue (after this weeks' that is) for the second planking. Better sharpen your glue brush and polish the bottle top. It's getting serious, I aint looking forward to that catapult at issue #53 or so. Night All

ok started thinking about 2nd plank. now a well 4 problems have come to mind! now the 4 holes no jokes please! the 2 for the rudders & the 2 for the props. now how do u do them with 2nd p. & painting going over them?

Issue#35 and second planking comming up, I thought I would check to see that ship was shipshape, so to speak. I noticed that my ship had developed a clear warping so that a 2-3mm gap could be seen under the keel. I reasoned that untill this was put right, no further planking should be attempted. Therefor; I steamed the hull inside and out, then weighted down the hull (with decks in situ) with one full 5L can of paint at each end, some 2L milk bottles (containg water) a 5lb pad hammer, and other heavy odds and ends. If it aint flat bottomed after a couple of days of that, then I give up!

thanks marki now what about the 2 outer prop shafts? do you stick them on after painting? i mean the housings not the shafts?

how did you make out with straightening your hull gerryb? have similiar concern , but not losing sleep over it, was thinking of having a nice long hot shower and then forget i put bismarck on the floor to steam her, trip over her and break a leg....anyway like I said it is not very drastic robert

hmm i ythink i went a little worng with my hull plankin i need to modyfy the top small planks a little as i have gap that wont fit a plank cause to small but to big to just fill !!

How about getting some 1.6mm square wood to glue on top and then sand it back when it's dry.

just gost iss 35 with new part 70 now my top part too big? so if we use the do we file down the stern part to fit? also to make my lip slightly bigger i'm going to use some 1.5 i had left
