I got a small tub of white teflon (PTFE) grease from my local ship's chandlers (living in Brighton - on the south coast of England - we have a few of these in the marinas !!). I also have some basic plastic 5 and 10 ml syringes (you can get them from most chemists if you can pursuade them that you need them for modelling and you are not a "druggy"), which you can fill with the grease and inject it into the shaft (the end of the syringe has a plastic nozzle that is about 3 mm dia with a 1.5mm hole over which the needle goes and it fits nicely into the end of the propellor shaft). I also use the syringes, with a needle, to inject oil into the various areas of my steam engines in my Yamato battleship (see my website under the other ship models).
I have now fitted my prop shafts with fabricated metal "A" frames, Graupner rudders and Raebosch 30mm 3-blade props, etc. I will shortly post all the pictures of this on my FLICKR website and put the website address here for all to see.
