This is me armed with the tools of a nice braai. If anyone ever comes this way, I'll love to enjoy this favorite South African leisure time with you.

It's what our friends from the Antipodes call a "Barbie". It is Afrikaans for a Barbecue.

Nice one russ. Hey Mike B, I saw the German joke and was thinking of learning our forum friends some Afrikaans whilst we're at the brink of the soccer world cup. How about: "Goeienaand jou sexy mens" That might help some oaks to make conversation in a bar, restaurant or night club.

I try to teach each foreigner the Dutch phrase "neuken in de keuken", something coenie should understand. ;D And here am I, a few weeks ago at Wacken Open Air (Germany):

No, Ravioli! Perfect food while on a festival, just heat it up and you're done.

Is Afrikaans (Zuid-Afrikaans?) so different from Dutch then?
The can is open, the lid is just sitting on top of the can in a attempt to keep the heat inside. So sorry, no photo of a Ravioli-explosion. ;D

Argh!! Yes, Afrikaans do have some Dutch words but the grammer differ quite a bit that's why I "think I know, but not sure"
