Nice thing about wood models Skyfire, is that if it goes wrong, it is repairable. Full marks for your efforts. Some others on this forum have used 1metre long planks instead of the 300mm planks supplied, as this makes it easier to fit the planks in a smooth sweep, which as you found is very easy to go wrong. As with any wood model hull, the first set of planks are critical, and must be set up each side by constantly checking to make sure that not only are they true fore and aft, but also level with each other across the model. this can be the hardest and most time consuming part of the planking, as once doen, each succesive set should be fitted tight and therefore follow the same contours. With this model, the first set must be set as per Hachette to be level with the bottom of the recess cut into the frames for the top part of the hull. These recessess should follow a smooth sweep bow to stern, if not then the frames have not been bedded down correctly! Note that with the hull upside down, the midway point of the hull will be several mm off the desk when the bow and stern touches the desk.
