not really thought, don't have a spray paint setup, but thinking of buying one as I can use it on the model railway as well.

Hi Newkid,
I would suggest you have a really good read of both Markus's and Swanrails modification threads. All of your questions can be answered there mate. As for waterproofing the hull, don't bother with the guaze that Hachette advise as it won't do a thing. I got some stuff called Glattfix of of Markus which is a resin you can paint on, very easy to use. Or swanrail has found that Ronseal Wood Hardner I think its called will do the same as the Glattfix.
I am going to be purchasing a Iwata Airbrush for my painting needs (waiting on me pay check lol) and then use lifecolour paints.

By the time you have put 4 or 5 coats of paint on the hull, it will be watertight. And then finish off with varnish. I left my model in the bath for 7 hours and it has only two coats of primer and the rudder and prop shafts only glued with 2 part epoxy resin adhesve. No water leaked in.

I'm using the white Ensign models paint and will be finishing it with a matt varnish to make it waterproof.
