Hi there . Im now up to part 42 due to having to wait on replacement part 38 from Hatchette. I think I may have the armor belt too low and as I have stuck the deck down I have noticed a overhang from the deck to side mainly amidships, was this the case with you guys and if so? how did you fix it ? Some great models out there keep up the fantastic work .

if you can place some pictures we will probably be able to help identify the problem if any to your hull . but dont worry everything is fixable mate.

Hi Northman,
I believe if I understand you correctly is that your deck is sitting on top of the armour belt and over hanging it? If so this is absolutely correct if you have followed Hachettes information, the deck actually sits on top of the side planking. Now by the sounds of it you are doing a static model so this isn't a big deal. But those of us doing an R/C build have decided to modify this to make the ship a bit more watertight. All we have done is stick and extra row of planking on top of the armour and then sanded the deck down to fit inside this extended planking.
For more info look in Swanrails modification thread and i think its called side extension plank or something. Or go have a look in my thread as I have done this mod (although buggered up the stern so am doing it again!!!) and hopefully it will all become clear.

Hi Northman,
just to add to the advice above, I had the same as you and its just a matter of sanding the deck back to be flush with the hull. If you're worried about sanding it back, don't be. I have sanded mine back the whole way around so its flush with the side hull. I'll post some pictures. But if you post yours you may help us to confirm your problem.
cheers

Thanks guys for the info . sounds like it is the way it should be and I need my sanding kit out . I will try and post some pics of my build so far , I also noted than when I put on the rear port hole part that the armor belt was lower on the starboard side well it was a gap tbh so time for the extra parts of beech i have left over
