Hello again. What`s to become of the 2nd layer of hull planking that`s missing from the top deck down to about 20mm along both sides of the hull? Is it installed in a later issue?

Hi steve, at the bow and stern there will be ply sections with portholes to be added on, but in the recessed area above the armoured belt ther will be NO planking at all, it just gets faired in with small ply sections to be sanded to shape.

Thanks for your reply. Someone mentioned that the ply port hole parts were not very good & he waited until the brass port hole bits arrived. Would that be correct?

Hi Steve
I have not heard that brass portholes will be supplied, but I may be completely wrong. Last weekend I purchased some 1/8th inch ID brass tubing for the purpose of portholes. Perfect scaling ( I think)

Skyfire is correct, if you want brass portholes, I'm afraid you're gonna have to buy them yourself! What a few have done was to just use the normal planks instead of the ply sections, then wait fot the porthole correction parts (the supplied ply sections are inacurate) and drill out the portholes themselves.

Thanks Eric. What exactly are the porthole correction parts? What issue are they in? Maybe I`ll wait till then before I glue the ply parts on

Thanks Eric. What exactly are the porthole correction parts? What issue are they in? Maybe I`ll wait till then before I glue the ply parts on Steve, it is paper overlays you recive in issue 54 that mark out where the new holes are to be drilled in and where existing holes are to be filled.
