Thanks a lot for all your nice comments guys Very much appreciated. Could I ask you ! what made you build this paticular ship. mike You certainly can, Mike More than 30 years ago, I visited a friend of mine who had build a plastic kit of Richelieu (Revell I think it was), and it was love at first sight. I decided there and then, that I would love to build a larger model of her - some day when I had the time. When I retired at the age of sixty, almost four years ago, I finally decided that now was the time to do it, and after a year of research (with many second thoughts, I admit) I put the first frames together.

It has been described as one of France's three national anthems - anyone know about that. It comes from a Russian song, words by a French broadcaster in London who died in the past year: nm The Frenchman who wrote the words was French and... I would like to bring a correction to what nm wrote: The author of "Chant des Partisans" (Guerrilla Song in its English version) is a woman, Anna Marly, born Anna Betoulinsky in St. Petersburg, Russia. She came to France in the early '20s and left Paris with her French husband in June 1940, taking the road to exodus to London where she joined the Free French Forces. When reading in 1942 articles in British media about the battle of Smolensk, she picked up her pencil and composed a partisan song, using her mother language for the lyrics. Joseph Kessel heard it and exclaimed himself: "That's what France needs!", writing the French version with his nephew Maurice Druon. The song quickly stood out as the Resistance hymn as it was whistled as a theme tune on the BBC broadcast "Honor and Homeland" addressed to occupied France, soon becoming a sign of recognition within the underground forces. Now, this being said... Since there is no "Best Stunning Richelieu Build" Award, Poul, the best I can do is awarding you a 'K' (in Upper Case!) Hat off, Maestro.

34 Pages of the highs and lows of scratch building. She looks fantastic and you must be so proud of her. If you're contemplating doing another you could put a poll up on here of you're choices and we could vote. If one of thems the Nimitz i'll vote for that
