If you have a look at Bismarck History & Destiny, page 6, there is a photo showing the exhaust pipe we fit in issue 66.
The pipe is lagged, so the fixings/flanges (whatever the eyelets are supposed to represent) are not visible. Therefore I'm going to leave them off.
Not quite sure how I'm going to securely fix the pipe in place yet. Hopefully a drop of superglue will do the trick.

Mark, not up to 66 yet so don't know the thickness of the parts, but is it possible to cut the heads off the eyelets and solder them as pins to the rear of the pipe. The superstructure can then be drilled to accept the pins? Doing it this way, the pipe can be fixed off the wall with a slight gap behind it, giving a nice 3D depth effect?

It might be possible, but it would be very fiddly. It would give a nice effect though.

Well gents, now you have me thinking................. If the pipes are lagged, what would the outside cover be made of ? Metal , or asbestos type material, or what ? If its non metal, then we have another challenge. Might even be able to fabricate it from thread or string soaked in PVA glue, let harden, then shaped.......easy............. There is another photo showing the lagging on page 50, Bismark - History & destiny Baz Baz

At this scale I don't think you would actually see any texture, but a matt white (grey ? silver ?) finish should be realistic. PVA soaked tissue might look good, but may well require supreme patience and dedication

Try bending one bend at a time and placing on the model, sort of in situ if you will. Those schematics can be baffling at times, but if you go slow it will sort it self out.
