Yesterday I was wondering on how to best fix the hull against the dreaded warping and came up with the following idea:
Get a plank which is 150 cm long and about 18cm wide. Chop a piece of to make blocks to support the port and stern during the build. Mark the center line and then screw everything on the plank (including the ship)
When the sides are planked, I can then remove the screws from the keel plate and finish the rest of the planking.
It seems a good idea in my head, but I don't have any expierience with wood working whatsoever...

The screw holes would'nt be a problem, the planking would cover them. Also the inside would get resin or PVA treated to protect it.
Good thinking ps2k, most others have done something very similar! Just make sure your plank is flat!!!

Ahhh ok Eric. I just filled the hull with heavy tins of food, which seemed to work ok.

Just make sure your plank is flat!!! Well the model is going to be static so a few screwholes covered with planking wouldn't hurt. But you mention something quite important here... the plank needs to be flat. Any type of wood I could buy at the DIY store that doesn't "work" to much?

And take care to keep the screws clear of the line of the frames, and of the overlapping pieces joining the parts of the keel.
