Good point JC. I guess there are several solutions. You could use a piece of window sealing foam strip ? Maybe even fit an o-ring of some sort ? I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, but that is the way I'm thinking. I guess that you could even fit a bilge pump and float switch if you really wanted a bells n whistles solution

As Mark has suggested, I am putting a self adhesive window sealing strip running round underneath the edge of the main and rear removable decks (I have fitted a raised deck edge and am using a thin, rubber type window/door seal that is about 1cm wide and compresses very thin). I have also followed a previous idea on this site (see the "Side Extensions" topic in "Swanrails Modifications and Tips") of fixing a 1cm "platform" running around the inside edge of the hull between the tops of the frames, just below the deck level, that the rubber strip will sit on and seal against.

As popeye says, I have put an additional layer inside my hull to stop any great influx of water. I do not expect any water to get onto the deck in normal running anyway (Bismarck is not a sub - at least if built properly), so any water getting into the hull should be miniscule, so I am not putting in a seal. More likely to get water into the hull via the propshafts if not suitably greased.
