Progress has totally stalled on the Flying Scotsman. missing an issue, (yet again). Will get back into it sometime. You think thats a big loco, have a look at this beast. It's only 108 feet from buffer face to buffer face. www.ardp.net/topic200.htmlThis locomotive is slowly being restored back to fully operantional condition. The ARHS ACT website used to have some photos of the work, but they seem to have gone after the website was changed to one that is even worse than before.

Flying Scotsman has all her driving wheels on now, (photos later). Only problem the rear ones rub against the footplate section. Don't know as yet if a spacer part has to go in between the chassis and footplate yet!!!

Hi Skyfire Im up to part 77 of Scotsmman had the same prob Hachett advise cutting 1mm off the front of the chassie to let footplate move back to clear this problem, as you go on the are a few more probs you will encounter. They are easy to put right but frustrating . mike

Starting to take shape Skyfire. I am not a train fan but I think this will be a beautiful model when its finished.

It is coming on nicely Skyfire. Like Gordon says, it will be worth the effort.

Added some white metal parts to both the locomotive and the tender.

Sort of, I filed down the front of the chassis, which has helped a lot, but think a little bit of work on the running plate might be needed as well.

Bought issue 52 today and found out replacement parts are to be supplied for the chassis frame, guard irons and large foot plate in issue 99, so as a result all work on the chassis has been halted until issue 99.

Thats a pain. Bit like our Bismarck at issue 125 (for example) need to find fret board from issue 40! No rhyme or reason to the build continunity. I mean when the Titanic was out least the build rate/instructions were methodical.

At least with the Bismarck, the parts mostly fit together ok, with this build, hardly anything seems to fit without some filing.
