wandering round my local model shop a few days ago I was surprised to see a new release from Airfix, 350scale Hms Illustrious aircraft carrier. I was sorely tempted but I have too much on at the minute, Bismarck, Lancaster, Trumpeters Repulse and a Huey helicopter. anyone have any info as to the qaulity etc? I think I'm right in saying Mark likes aircraft carriers. Seem to remember him waxing lyrically on the subject. It seems reasonably priced at £49

I think it was Chill rather than me.
I do remember building the Airfix Ark Royal as a kid though.

hi Jim This is an all new tooling kit from Airfix and if it is in the quality level of the 1/24 Mosquito it is going to be good. From all the pics I have seen of it then it will be a goodie - I know I am getting one when they arrive here next month They are releasing it in two versions - one with paint set and one without paints. I will post further details once The kits arrive here in South Africa.

correct Grant, 15 acrylic paints 2 brushes and a Revell glue all for £49 although I have seen it on the net for as little as £37 but then you have to factor in postage. looking at pics it looks good methinks a superdetailers project lots of P.E. sets out there for this scale. no doubt someone will produce a dedicated P.E. set for it.

I bought the kit a few weeks ago and it is good quality. Although, I think it's expensive at £50 (shop price). It's got 276 parts and a booklet thats got interviews with some of the sailors.
I also bought the 1:350 scale trafalgar class sub to go with the carrier (£7). The sub has 41 parts, a lot of which won't be used when building, depends which version anyone wants to build.
