hi guys
ive made room in my work shop and sorted much of it out , ive still got victory in there about 3/4 done now.
still turning mast and spars on lathe, most of the smaller stuff guns hatches, stairs, grattings etc are all painted and in place.
just rigging and masts to complete.
ive been looking over serveral sites and made my mind up to do this bismark on a jig. several reasons for this as victory is just about 24 " at base of keel and 30 " from beakhead to rear of stern post, 20 ribs pluss various supports and stiffners, keel was in 4 sections. althought these were joined and perfectly inline when assembled.
once adding ribs and supports, she began to warp a bit, i thought i could over come that by planking . but to no avail i ended up removing planking soaking keel and ribs in bath and building a jig to straighten her out, this was rather tedious as some may well know.
it eventualy took 2 soakings and leaving in the jig in a airing cupboard to dry out for 6 weeks before she stayed straight.
she was then left in jig while 1st planking on both sides to water line. before she was taken out of jig.
i want to start of with the bismark in a jig the same way.
can you guys possibly post the dimensions for the keel and ribs .
not having any paper work at the moment is my prob and looking at pics in gallery and other sites im judging bismark to be about 50" long at keel. ??
ive been out today and had a little shopping spree, for some items i know im going to need.
i would like to get my construction base and jig setup so as i dont muck it up once my parcel arrives. better to set it up now and do it properly rather than rush it once parcel is here.
any of you guys having probs with subcription deliverys???
i notice that many on the forums are, this has disturbed me a bit as i cant find a local newsagent to get it for me its a bit late now as its over 26 weeks into the build.
i just hope i get all the back issues in 1 go 1 parcel like they said they would send.
regards to all and thanks in advance
