Don't get too disheartened Chill, there can be no problem round that area which cannot be rectified with some filler and sand paper and the usual vast quantity of patience.
Have you taken any pics yet?

Know how you feel chill, what with having to rip my side extensions off and start again. But as Eric says a good bit of sanding and filling usually fixes the issue.

One of the reasons MY ancor pockets seem to stick out further is, as you noticed, because i did not put the ply strip over the resin part....I found that my resin part was sticking out at each side, so I cut the ply short and used some filler to smooth. So as a result my pockets stick out probably TOO far!
I think that if you use a small piece of sand paper on a small block and patiently sand around the bulge you should bring it back up again. As long as you have'nt sanded the bulge down, and I am pretty sure you hav'nt, then you will be OK!
You'll need to do the same as I did with the bow resin part....I had to use quite a bit of filler to smooth the step onto the planks as the resin bow was too wide. I used car body filler for that job, it did very well too.
Chill, I can't see the foredeck, have you not put it on yet?

Gents and Lady..................using the terms loosely of course I have another question from obsevations. Few pontifications first ....................... As you all know, we here downunder have recently received the resin bow piece............... about time too. So I happily attached it and away I went. First thing I realised was it didn't fit all that well .........girth wise, and I've used copious quantities of filler............soooooo...... jobs right.......or so I thought. Settling in for a few minutes read on the site tonite before zzzzz time, I was checking other models and we all seem to have filled this area. Then I checked our resin bow against photos of the actual ship and the 1:00 scale model by Pierre REINHARD and made a startling discovery. The Hachette (Amati) bow is quite blunt and rounded in the mid section compared to the original. Shame I can't pop in a bow photo of the original ship for fair of copyright mayhem. But take a look at Afk and Eric's resin bow shots (saves me posting an identical one) on page 1, then compare it with the actual ship. Now, if we all had continued the planking line without using filler and sanded the bow piece instead, I reckon we all would go close to a correct sharp bow. Has anyone else noticed this, or have I missed it and has it been discussed somewhere else on the forum ? Comments please I know for sure there is about to be another big sanding session here this weekend to get the bow a little more true to scale Baz

Yep, I noticed that too Baz, I decided not to do anything about it, just left it as is.

Hello. I have come to fit the stern resin part but am finding it too narrow. The hull cladding protrudes all the way round it. Is there a remedy for this? Many Thanks Robert

i used 2 part epoxy resin on both & if you mix it a leave for 30sec`s or so you can hold them in place until dry or use abit of tape until it starts to set.then i filled up to the resin part`s with filler then sanded until i got them blended with the plank`s,hope this help`s.

Hi Robert, how much does the hull protrude? can you just sand down the planking to merge with the resin part?

Noticed with photo's of real Bismark that the bow slopes up. But with Build the Bismark it seems to be straight. I need to glue resin part 67 onto bow and then add alot of filler between 67 & wooden deck section 65 or glue 67 to 65 and glue it sloping up and add alot of filler between bottom of 67 and bow. Unless there is another way, apart from the bin. HELP!

Hi Ian, your bow should slope up too, the model should have a gentle sweep up to the bows.....if you gently put your model upside down on a flat surface you will see a gap midships with only the extreem bow and stern touching the ground. Don't worry, it'll be fine. Post some pics if you are really worried about it. (open up a photobucket account if you have'nt already) photobucket.com/ then paste your pics from there.

Thanks for reply. Have noticed that deck does slope up, but the part of the deck that resin part 67 will be glued onto is level, so looks like I still have a slight problem. Sorry for delay in replying, have to rely on internet cafe's.
