Hi guys Just thought id show off my newly finished boat fully remote controlled with smoke machine fog horn lights and engine sound ( I might have gone overboard but its all fun ).most of the fittings came from Float-a-Boat Made from scratch, plank on frame from plans by Bernard Retif "can be found on internet if you look hard enough"

Very nice well done Should (weather permiting) be going on a paddle steamer on Sunday, The PS Waverley is visiting Southend for a trip out to some old war time forts in the middle of the Thames Estuary. I will try and get some photos of her and some new ones of the Forts. In the meantime this is what the forts looked like two years ago. The weather was pants that day heavy swells, strong winds and rain... typical British Summer time weather then!

A very nice model, indeed, Bob. Good show, that man.
A guy must really have to tick off his CO to get a posting like that, Nick. They musta gone stir crazy on those things.

Hi Bob, nice looking boat. Whats the deck made of and what scale is it? I also use Float A Boat's stuff, they have a huge range and are very good to deal with as well. southendnick. What were the forts actually used for? Early warning of air raids? AA platforms? Somewhere to put people like Napoleon??

What were the forts actually used for? Early warning of air raids? AA platforms? Somewhere to put people like Napoleon?? They were Anti-Aircraft gun platforms, Each fort was made up of seven towers. Here is a plan of the lay out I drew up, I'm no Rolf Harris! Sadly todays trip was canceled due to adverse weather conditions, reports of force 8 gusts out to sea so for safety of the passengers and the boat we were taken down the River Medway. It was still an intresting trip, with a number of napoleonic forts and a couple of shipwrecks visible. I'll post some photos up if anyone is intrested.

Oh believe me, I'd have rather spent time manning one of those anti-aircraft towers, lol.
