As promised, here are some pictures of my granado build: This shows how I fit my first layer planks. Each plank is glued on edges and butted up tight to the previous one. The clamps are to ensure that intermediate areas are kept level with each plank, thus lessening the sanding and filling needed. The next group of pictures show how the strealer is made when planks tend to diverse due to their natural shape. Shown is for the second layer of planks (the 1mm walnut) where it is not possible to use filler and must be tight (as per the orginal ship) Finished stern: Complete hull: To show my steaming abilities, the stern rail on my Waverley was made from one long (1 metre) piece of 5mm by 3mm mahogany strip, steamed and bent very, very carefully over a long period of time. When the correct shape, it was araldited to the railings and left to dry out. As per my logo, who dares wins!!! (the very thought of attempting is scary, so i just went ahead, and it worked!!) Hope this has been of some assistance to you, good luck with your build. ;D ;D ;D

Thank you very much Don,you have help me loads with them pics,i no wot im doing now with your help. im gona go get some them paper clips, thay look very usefull. i will try doing them stealers insted of forsing the planks.im gona have to be very carefull with the back end cos i glue that brown peace on like it says to do before planking, wish i had left it off like you have on yours till the planking was finish, would made it easyer for me when sanding down. looking at your pic 107 yours like my hull will be painted at the bottom so it should cover any mistakes i make. the Waverley is looking good and you done great job bending the wood, dident no you could bend wood so much,i boild some water in a pan last night and layed the panks on top with a plate on top and just left it on simmer and it turned out alot better then leaving them to soak in water. anyway hopefully ill have it all planked by next week well the first lot and ill post some pics to let you see if iv done a good job a big thank you again

It will have to be after the trip to the UK as I will need all the money I can save for that trip and of course not forgetting the trip across to Ireland to visit JC and his family.

Something to remember PH, if your going to paint your model, then filler is your best friend. From someone on Model Ship World.
