I wanna see if I can get a true to scale propulsion using as much of the Hachette gear as possible.

First ever R/C build of any kind but going with the 2 motor setup from Markus. I like a challenge, reminds me of when I watercooled my PC. Had to cut the case etc (case was £180) and then fit all the watercooling. Worked perfectly and it was my first time doing that to hehe.

Going to have to be static for me, can't afford the rc gear or the motors, also no access to a decent lake for me. Bit hard to transport the Bismarck on the bus!!! Though might get things done, so I can fit her with 2, (or maybe 3) motors sometime in the future if things change!

Skyfire, if you ever get the the Isle of Wight we have a small lake in our garden crying out for a Bismarck!! That's why I'm going r/c but keeping it as simple as possible as it's a first time for me

Now that would be an interesting mod to make to the guns, being able to fire scale 16" shells - muahahahaha :-D
Wonder how far they would go ?

I'm going with 2 motors with V-tail mixing for differentiable steering. Very tempting to go with the working guns as the lake where I sail has one moron boat owner who could do with a backside full of BB's to learn him some manners

Only problem I can see is the Bismarck being runover with his boat. But live scale 15" shells could help there. ROFL ;D ;D ;D

Either that or build a mine layer with live scale mines and then I could set up a defensive perimeter so he'll learn to keep his distance

Since Hachette had already had some experience with this model and looking at the details on the german website, I went with the straight Hachette design (except for having a mixer and 2 motor controllers) and have not been dissapointed. Having completed the hull, fibreglassed, painted and yacht varnished it, I tried it out on the water (after putting clingwrap over the unpainted deck) with appropriate weights to load it down correctly. In the radio control I am using 2 speed controllers, the same type as supplied, and a v-tail mixer. The ship responded superbly, especially when turning as the mixer enabled it to almost turn in its own length. The speed was also very good, well beyond scale speed and no need at all for a 3rd powered shaft unless you want to beat those pesky speedboat models !! I Have posted pictures of the boat on my Flickr website and have now included shots of the mast, a winners cup for best in show (and they do know its a "kit" but commended me on the quality of the build) and a frame made from household plumbing pipe and bits to hold the ship and lower it into the water without having to bend down.
