Having now completed the first 45 issues, and commenced painting, I thought it might be useful to show how my model has deviated from the Hachette version.
Recently, glattfixed:
and primed:
My list of mods is as follows:
1. drilled out stern resin for 3rd. prop shaft.
2. modified stern keel plate to fit prop shaft 3.
3. made new fixing for rudder servo.
4. fitted Markus's motor plate.
5. fitted holders for electronic control parts and batteries.
6. Resin coated inside of hull.
7. fitted top plates inside topmost side planking, to reinforce and keep out water.
8. Raised stern tube resin part with 1mm packers so that second planking would fit flush.
9, Fitted magnets to hold down the removable decks.
10. made up 4 sets of rotating gun turret bases, and fitted two of them. (this included modifying servos and fitting miniature microswitches).
11. Fitted "real" planked decks to stern superstructure (still ongoing)
12. Modifed new part 70 to raise anchor recess.
13. fitted 5mm x 1mm plank around stern and along each side as far as foredeck.
14. trimmed 1mm of each side of each removable deck so as to go inside new gunwhale.
15. fitted scratch built fairings for the outer two props (cannot wait at least a year for the Hachette parts).
16. Modified foredeck so that the gap between it and the main deck now lines up with the foremost breakwater. Makes deck planking easier as well.
17. Fixed stern removable deck to centre removable deck. Now have removable deck all in one.
18. real deck planks on hull main decks, bow to stern.
Think is about all for now, and have another two years to go yet!!!!
