here's a comparison between different kinds of batteries: 1. lead battery: characteristics : 2,0 volts per cell, angular shaped, lots of different capacities (depends on size) advantages : cheap, no special charger needed disadvantages: heavy, mustn't be charged at high rate, capacity loss when discharged at high rate 2. NiCd battery: characteristics : 1,2 volts per cell, round shaped, max. capacity approx. 3800mAh advantages : capable of high rate charge/discharge disadvantages: have to be discharged before re-charging (memory effect) 2. NiMh battery: characteristics : 1,2 volts per cell, round shaped, max. capacity approx. 10000mAh advantages : capable of high rate charge/discharge disadvantages: 2. LiPo battery: characteristics : 3,7 volts per cell, angular shaped, max. capacity approx. 4800mAh advantages : extreme lightweight and small, capable of high rate charge/discharge disadvantages: expensive, need special charger, may burn/explode when mistreated (overcharged, overheated or short circuit) markus
