Hi, I have seen people talk of a book of Anatomy of the Bismarck and I think I have found it on Amazon. www.amazon.co.uk/Battleship-Bismarck-Anatomy-Ship-Brower/dp/0851779824Is this the book people are talking about? As if I ever get any time I wanted to do a 3D computer model of the Bismarck and Hood and am wondering if it has any blueprint type drawings?

This book does have a lot of drawings. It's probably the easiest source of scale drawings of the Bismarck, unless there are some proper plans available somewhere.

Ok thanks guys. I will buy the Anatomy book so I have so good clear images and information to do my Partworks model and bookmark Swanrail's website if and when I have the time to start my 3D Computer models.
I do building models so doing a ship model is gonna require a hell of a lot of work hehe.

The Hood anatomy book is very good, and goes a long way to dispel the myth that Hood was lightly armoured, she wasn't, she was better armoured than any british battleship built before her, including the Queen Elizabeth class and Royal Soverign class.....both of which were considered to be well armoured.
The Diagrams are very good and go into amazing detail.

I agree, have been thinking a few times of maybe after the build of the Bismarck of doing the Hood to the same scale.

Yeah i too would love to have Hood at the same scale but I can't find one anywhere. And seeing as the Bismarck is my fist ever build, scratch building the Hood isn't an option. I am thinking for my next model of doing either the Titanic, Yamato or i have found a model HMS Kelly which appeals to me.

since the bismarck proved so successful for hatchette i suspect a hood will be in the offing once bismarck is complete. it seems to be a logical progression. (logic without emotion. live long and prosper) maybe i,m spitting into the wind lol (ewww whats that on my glasses)

Funny, I was thinking about the exact same thing just now......I really hope they do make a Hood, I would go for it like a shot, and hang the expense! (lots of groveling at the wifes feet would be required, of coures......but she likes that anyway!)

There seems to be no 1:200 model of the Hood even in cardboard, so they might see that as a gap in the market (or evidence of no market!)

Hi NM, There is a Card model 1:200 scale HMS Hood, I have one!! It is by a Polish Company, I think their called Halinski. Looks really difficult and I'm not skilled enough to attempt such a build at the moment. Will start this type of modelling with some smaller, easier ones first.

I hope they do the Hood as well, think I would just about have room for it on the same shelf as the Bismarck. Hmmm Bismarck and the Hood alongside eachother. No need for the 15" guns at that range. LOL ;D

WARNING Bismarck plans from this site are not accurate and the scale is questionable. I had the misfortune to buy a set of these. Details are very sparse and inaccurate - in particular the forward breakwater is entirely the wrong shape and in the wrong place! Plans appear to be for a r/c model as the main deck is shown in sections with screw down points and the model is considerably broader in the beam than she should be. The Tirpitz plans however appear to be more detailed although it is difficult to tell from the very small illustrations - I wonder why they don't want you to examine them too closely? I recommend you spend your money on the 'Anatomy of' book which is available from Amazon @ £21.00 postage free. This book is excellent and has a superb 1:500 scale set of plans on the inside of the dust jacket.
