Hi guys, just wanted to show (off...) my Fw190D9 model. Fully radio controlled ( retractable landing gear, flaps etc.), 1:7 scale. the wingspan is about 1m65. there's a 15cc two-stroke engine under the cowl. the cowl itself isn't quite scale, but only 1 person has noticed it I started in February 2007, and I'm still not quite finished... so it hasn't flown yet.... here are some pictures ( none taken by me, they were all taken by visitors to a scale model meeting....) I might have some other pictures lurking around somewhere, but at the moment I can't be arsed uploading them ;D

Nice model of the Dora.
Kit? Plans? Scratchbuilt?
If I built it, I'd nearly be afraid to fly it! Well done.

Wow Danny, that Dora looks fantastic!
I always thought the D9 was the best looking 190 with that extra long cowl. One superb aircraft and one superb model!

Very nice Danny, but I'd move it quick before someone scores a penalty kick.

Thanks everyone! this was made from a top-flite kit. sadly it wasn't popular enough so the kit got discontinued, I got one of the last ones... I'm a bit worried about flying it too, and I've been flying for four years now.... I'm not going to fly it until I'm ready, and I'm going to let someone else from my club ( about 20 years of experience) do the maiden flight ( although it's like getting married and sending your wife on a honeymoon with someone else....). I might make a video when the maiden takes place, but I might forget it in the excitement... By the way, I was 16 when I started the build of this model! ( I turn 18 next wednesday) Danny rem2007yeah, I also noticed it looks like it's on a footballfield, but it's safely on the field of MVC delta ( the field that organized the scale meeting)... well... not safely, seeing as there were about 3 mustangs, 2 P47's, one P40, 2 spitfires, 2 typhoons, a P38, and a B17 on that meeting too! And of course my AT-6 harvard that's standing on the right of the dora in these Pictures...

Sounds like a right dogfight to be had there.
Watched a good film on Sky last nite called Flyboys. All about Americans flying for the French in WW1 before the doughboys joined in. Very well done with some computer animation of the dogfights, but the plot was a bit thin.

Very well done with some computer animation of the dogfights, but the plot was a bit thin. I have that film on blu-ray disc ( amazing on a 1080p HDTV!!!)... nice film, but the flying animations were more action orientated than realistic... the planes in that movie were far too agile, and if they would've flown like that in real life the wings would've probably snapped right off...

A very nice FW190 Danny. I always found first flights nerve racking. I also found the landing after first flights the best. You could then relax a bit and get ready for the next knowing it has already flown. Its difficult letting someone else even with vast experience fly your plane. I have seen them also prang. Although I have never used one perhaps a buddy box would be the best way forward. Still its up to you. All the best with it

Since there's been snow here for almost a week, and I did some more work on the dora, I decided to take some nice snow snapshots! ( okay, that, and the fact that I needed Pictures for a build article about the dora, might post that one someday, right after I translate it from Dutch to english...) I think the pics look nice, but the weather was really cold and I accidentally dropped the camera in the snow... it got all wet and icey on the outside, looked as if the camera wouldn't last very long... managed to rescue it though anyway, here are the pictures:

LOL, if only they fitted in the wheel wells ;D
kidding aside, we rarely have snow here in the netherlands so building ski's for my aircraft would be a waste of time and effort....
