How do you actually make the turrets move. Servos or something else.

Not an expert Sky but its done with servo's. See Markus's thread for greater detail.

What I was meaning was how would you do it with what Robert has done, not sure how easy it would be to attach a servo to what looks like a hose fitting. Ummm Or am I totally missing something, (Not the 1st time)!!!

;D Good morning to you, nighty bird so far away in Australia! I understand you were somehow still questioning yourself Skyfire, as Gordon, (hi Gordon!) kindly with his post, (well, he was half right) misled you in telling to go to Markus' "turret wiring." (I know someone else personally who lately got confused with his own mails ). Actually, it’s in his "prototype barrel elevation" section that you get the "where" and "how" answers to your queries (servo is fixed below the turret base for instance). Just click on the link for pics and video and I am sure light will come to you this time!! buildthebismark.proboards52.com/index.cgi?board=markus&action=display&thread=1062Cheers and have a nice day in Camberra, Robert

Did a bit of jumping ahead last night to give me a bit of a break. Started builidng the main gun last night - I assume its Anton and these next four consecutive issues will all be the same guns. I attached the three uprights on the main base- and I noticed that the parts were very sloppy fit had a struggle keeping them vertical. Anyone else had this problem? I wasnt too sure where to put this thread. I found that all of my parts for all four main turrets were very poor. The wood was very thin and did not fit together at all well. The brass parts were also of poor quality. The brass was very thin and flimsy. I had to file some of the side parts down to fit, thereby losing some detail of rivets. I also found that they generally did not fit. The smaller guns were much better designed. I am really disappointed with this. I've put a lot of work into this model, and when it's finished, I will always be disappointed with the main turrets, which are an important feature. Shame.

This is the main gun motorised with a servo on its test rig, including film of it operating. This shows the servo connection (see above for details as to how the gun barrels are moved. The setup, including the servo slowing device between the receiver and servo, this slows the servo so that it takes several seconds to move round And this shows it working (it has a slight problem moving to the right (starboard) as the supporting tube is not perfectly vertical (this is only a test rig afterall) and it stcks slightly.

your 'slight problem' is caused by different lengths of servo / turret lever... just make sure both rods are parallel and everything will be fine markus

Dear Mark I got my servo slow down module from the Sussex Model Centre (about £12) www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/It does not appear when you do a search but they have them in stock. It has 2 modules built into the same unit but only one speed control potentiometer (0 to about 3 seconds). You also have to plug both input cables into the receiver (either into 2 separate channels or via a "Y" cable into one channel), otherwise it doesn't appear to work properly. When plugged into 2 separate channels, the 2 outputs do work independently but have the same slowdown characteristics. For me this means the I can operate the 2 front main guns together on 1 channel and the 2 rear guns on another channel (I don't intend to operate all 4 guns independently)

Thanks Jack.
Can any body tell me the diameter of the gun barrels and the turret end. I'm working on a cunning plan for controlling the elveation, and want to try it on a mock up.
Thanks
