Hadn't really thought about lights yet. Have you used fibre optics there, or is that LED's. Hi-brightness LED's might work well in the searchlights.
By the way, you've got the lights the wrong way round. Red is port, or left in lubber's talk.

I was thinking of having working running lights, not seen any pics of where the lights should be. I assume there was a masthead light as well as the port and starboard lights. Would she have had any other lights while moving also were the lights actually used at any point in time!!!
One assumes they would have been used as per rules of navigation, but then again during war time maybe not, any thoughts anyone ??

Maybe the lights are OK, and it's just that the ship is the wrong way around!?

Welcome to the forum Essy2050. I wouldn't use a 24v lamp as you'd need a lot of batteries to power it. I'd go for an LED and fit a resistor so that they could be powered from the 6v motor battery. Some LED's come with internal resistor which makes life even easier. Try having a look at Maplin Electronics, I'm sure they would do something suitable.

I'm busy with a plan to place LED's in the cabin areas to light up the portholes. Thusfar I tested 2,2 volt LED's in series circuit of 10 LED's per circuit. That gave me 22 volt which I powered with a 24 volt 1 amp transformer. It looks well so far as the LED's emit enough light to shine through the portholes. If this works then I can attach as many series circuits in parallel to the transformer as the need might be. My question now is what colour LED's must be used to be placed in the cabins? I took note of the magazines description of lights and will follow that route with the outside lights.

When I was trying doing some building yesterday on the searchlights I was toying with the idea of drilling some holes though the casings for eventual lighting of said search lights.

It seems that nobody can assist me with a definite colour of the cabin lights and I was thinking of using red LED's to lit up the port holes. I would like the forum members' opinion of my plan. Achtung, I'll come back to you on my opinion of the search lights as soon as I receive that parts.
