I would have guessed at yellow for the cabins. I think they would have been normal incandescent light bulbs ? However, being a battleship. wouldn't the rule of the day (night ?) be not to show any lights, but keep the black-out blinds (or equivalent) closed.
I was toying with the idea of lighting the search lights as well. Haven't received those parts yet tho. However, a nice bright white LED should be the order of the day for a search light.

Theres really not much room in the casings of the lights. Also wiring them up may prove a challenage - specially the ones higher up the superstructure. May take a lot of internal drill hols and passage ways to guid the light wires. I ll post some dimensions of the lights tonight.

Yep agree with Mark
I reckon they would be white/yellow lights in cabins with the option to cover the portholes at night or during battle.

Thanks guys. I agree with Mark on the black out of lights in battle, but I want my Bissy to be anchorred in example the harbour of Kiel without serious threats. I'm out to get hold of yellow LED's to test the effect. I just purchased white LED's for the search lights and so on. What a surprise I got, the white LED's is about three times the prize of the red LED's - no reason given by the dealer. I wonder if it's the same situation elsewhere? The room in the superstructures is small, but I'm using very thin copper wire (about ,5mm) with different colours for each series circuit. So far so good. Achtung, I'm eager to see your dimensions. Please bear in mind I'm building a static model.

Right done me best to get some measurements on the spotlights. Made of three pieces in total. The measurements of the actual 'light' is Outside Diameter (OD) 9mm Inside Diameter (ID) 7mm. As you can see from the photos: theres not much room inside. This one shows a moulding /detail that i was thinking of drilling through to allow access of wires for the LED: And the arms: Drilled through the base to align with the hole in the lamp casing. And one last photo of the goodies from Markus Done a bit of work also on my model:

Those lights are quite small - it might be tricky getting a 3mm LED inside and hiding the wires (or at least making them small enough to look realistic.)

Be fun trying though.

you can solder thin enamelled copper wire onto the led's. this insulated wire is almost invisible when painted grey diameters from 0,15 - 0,30mm are fine for wiring led's: www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=44markus

Thanks Markus. I can image the response I'll get when I also ask for a bright white LED one sixth the width of a British Standard sugar cube

Thanks Achtung, are these lights part of the standard issues from Hatchette? If so, I think I'll be able to fit a LED inside as the ones I got is about 3 to 4 mm in diameter. As you indicate the ID as 7 mm, I'll only have to plan the layout of the wires. Thanks Markus, I'll use your advice and explore a bit.

Or you could hang them down realistically so people could say, "Wow, he's even included the cables !"

Thanks Markus. I can image the response I'll get when I also ask for a bright white LED one sixth the width of a British Standard sugar cube I'll never be able to measure my Bismarck accurately, I don't put sugar in my coffee and I don't smoke! ;D ;D
