I was thinking of getting this when it first came out, but on reflection i'm glad I didn't. It looks great in all the pics apart from the connecting rods I'm sure they could of used piano wire or maybe stainless steel, it would be just as shiny but of a much smaller gauge which in my humble opinion would of made for a prettier end result. I am now sitting back waiting for all the flak which is no doubt going to come my way....

I think they would Skyfire Piano wire or stainless takes some bending for a similar gauge.

Maybe a small hole in the Planet that the wire went into to?

Could be done, would need a fairly small hole for the small planets.

Some of the smallest drill bits I've got are 0.2-0.3 of a millimetre If they would be to big that orrorey is smaller than I thought.

They would easily work for the smaller planets, could even use something a bit bigger.

I've been a bit lax in taking photos, but here is my orrery with all the planets in place. One or two droop a little, but I read on a forum somewhere that you can sometimes improve this by turning over the brass ring that the rod fixes in. Seems that the holes are not always true. I shall give it a go. My base parts have just arrived, but annoyingly, not the power supply, so I can finish it but not run it !!!!

Thanks for the video, Mark. My daughter is building it and I've saved the video to my PC so that she can see it. Have a K
