The continuing build of the Flying Scotsman. Issue 6: Saw the construction of the Rear Chassis a lot of bending and gluing to do, The Rear Chassis complteted. And dry fitting it to that main chassis Issue 7 Detailing the Rear Chassis, had to add small strips of "rivits" and make a step or two. Issue 8 Adding the Axleboxes and face plates, the axle boxes needed a lot of filing down to remove the burr on the back which stood up a good 4 mm high! The Rear Chassis with the axle box, step and rivits (from issue 7) in place. Issue 9 Detiling the cab, inserted the floor and fallplate, great fun when the cab was just a tad too small for it to fit, so some carefull filing of the floor made it fit... so did the sledge hammer! Issue 10 Detailing the cab, Window frames, Doors, Cinder gaurds. the cinder guards were too big to fit in the holes they needed to go into so a bit of carefull drilling of the cab was needed, the doors needed to be bent to fit. Issue 11 Transfer Sheet, we actually got a sheet of transfers for when the model is painted odds on it gets lost long before then!

The ongoing Flying Scotsman build continues... Issue 14Work on detailing the Cab begins, The first of the hand rails are installed, this saw holes on the cab side pannels made slightly larger to take the brackets, the brass wire was then thread through to for the hand rails. The other hand rail is installed, this has been done to both sides. Issue 15Next up was to roof the cab, this is made from a piece of plastic. Dry fit of the cab roof and roof vents. Issue 16The next stage is preping the Bioler Backhead, however... The part issued is again made from plastic there is a note included with the issue stating that they are going to issue a new higher detail metal backhead part with issue 30 and if you wish to use the newer part DONT use the plastic part issed so I'm going to wait for the new part. The plastic backhead. Issue 17We recived the boiler! Looks really like a train now, I have nor yet done the "riviting" along the top you are recomended to use brass wire sanded down or filler again sanded down but I am going to look in the workshop for any of the really small rivits we have and use them glued in place.

That's certainly looking like a train now Nick. I almost wish I'd taken up the series. (So many models, so little time.....) It's looking very good. I bet you can't wait for some wheels (then you can push it along, making choo choo sounds )

I see you got some motors for the Vulcan in February - try one in the Scotsman? Flying! NM Yep they are only the engine cores so need quite a bit adding to them but they are fully serviceable. I'll post some photos in a couple of weeks got a course to do this weekend on Couster Services (Tourist Board) sounds most fun!
