Finally got the last issue with the power supply. I plugged it in, eager with anticipation.... and Nothing !!
Shoved a meter on the Power supply plug and 6 v as expected, so I took the base unit apart and had a butchers. Couldn't see anything wrong - plugged the power back in, and of course, it worked absolutley fine !! Grrrr........
Put it all back together, and it still worked fine !! I think it was just out to annoy me. However, it loooks great working - the motor is quiet enough to leaving running all the time if you want. All my planets work smoothly. It's worth fitting the replacement moon gear that was delivered along with the power unit. It does running a bit smoother than the original.

Still waiting for the power supply but I have re-ordered the issues with the motor and the speed control so that I have spares for the future. The motor geometry is very specific, so if the motor burns out it could be difficult to rig up a non-standard replacement. The speed control is a variable resister which is likely to wear with time.

Wow, whats the difference between the 2 gears. ( The original one is slightly oversized and causes the earth and moon to judder slightly. The replacement runs perfectly smoothly. It only takes a few seconds to change as the arm just drops in.
