Just when you think you have seen its all.... How do you develop this much skill with only 33 years on the planet? Amazing.

Just seen issue one of the "new" version of the Victory. It looks very good. Was puzzled with the tv advert as they are providing a crew, which on my earlier version of the Victory was very hard to do as the scale was quite small. It turns out the new one is at a 1 to 84 scale, the model being 42 inches long (slightly longer than the Bismarck), did not buy the copy so do not know what the full version issues will cost or how many, suspect quite a few. Just as well I already have a model of the Victory, or else might have been tempted, but at 42 inches long....................that equals both my bissie and my Waverley and I do not have room for either of the latter when finished (we need the dining room taable back!!!). Other interesting point is that the frames in issue one all have numbered slots on them, looks very much like painting by numbers, uh building by numbers!!

You are correct Swanrail, this is a large kit and will take up a lot of space when complete. In saying that its not as big as the JoTika kit which is 1:72. I signed up for this during the test release and think I will give it a go. The quality looks excellent.
There are 120 issues which = £718. Expensive but the JoTika version is £720 so at least you can spread the cost over a couple of years.

Mike your Victory looks great. Must say the lady's paper model looks good, but I prefers yours.
Blonde gave me the go ahead to start a next build after the Bissy, BUT ONLY IF IT'S A "SAIL SHIP". I'm convinced that the HMS Victory will be the way to go.
Please give me directions on how to subscribe, etc.
I prefer the 1:98, but if all else fail the 1:84 will do.

Coenie, my build was a secondhand boxed kit that I bought three years ago. I don't think the partwork is released over here.

Thanks Mike Hi Coenie Have been in touch with Jacklin Enterprises over here and with De Agostini UK and both tell me there are as yet no plans to do the Victory in South Africa. I even tried begging because I am desperate to do ithe Victory myself. If I have any luck will let you know!

Hi Grantj,
I don't know if you have thought about it but what about asking one of us UK people on the board to order the Victory or subscribe and you then pay them and they send you the magazine and parts?
The only annoying thing would be the huge big toolbox they send out to you, that might cost alot to send on.
I would be willing to do this if you are getting desperate.

Thanks Afkmatrix that is a brilliant offer and may just take you up on it! First I want to have a chat to Mr.Jacklin of Jacklin Enterprises himself and see what he can organise as he seems to be taking an interest in my build and send him regular updates. He was the one who told me they where going to be doing it a few months ago so if he cant help then will happily take you up on your offer

GUY's - BE VERY AWARE !!!!!!!!! Although my model is only 1:98 scale, the hull is only 700mm long but the Mizzen mast jib and the Bowsprit take it up to 1100mm long! The Main mast height is 800mm and the width of the Main mast yards make it 410mm wide. You need a big shelf for these models! I had to put mine on a corner unit as I didn't have a shelf deep enough! The case, if you make one, to keep the dust out (the enemy of all model sailing ships) is even bigger again!

Well I took the plunge and subscribed to the HMS Victory and with the help of a kind hearted member of the forum will get it posted on to me out here!
As the Beatles once said '' I get by with a little help from my friends''
Once I get the first issues I will do a full build diary probably on the Partworks Model Forum.
Can hardly wait!!!!
